Good News!

GHTV is delighted to receive funding from The National Lottery Community Fund. This has enabled us to improve our connectivity and organisational resilience – we have invested in new ICT equipment, improved our our digital presence, and it has allowed us to support our clients during the pandemic.

We have new team members!

We are delighted to welcome Nancy to Green Health Thames Valley. Nancy is our new Project Co-ordinator who has a wealth of experience in marketing and communications. Nancy will be running the project with Sara, our Horticultural Therapist and Project Manager at GHTV.   A big welcome also to our new Trustee members Tricia, Greg, Ralph and Mike who all bring wonderful new skills and experience to the organisation.  Last, but not least, we would like to take this opportunity to wish Selina good luck in her new business venture – Silver Birch Outdoor Learning, where she will be working with children and young adults, teaching them through outdoor activities.

Whilst we have continued to provide remote support to all our clients during the Covid restrictions, it really is so good to be back at the garden with clients. GHTV provides horticultural therapy and community-based support for adults with mental health difficulties. Our aim is to provide a friendly and welcoming place for clients to enjoy the outside and company of others. If you would like to find out more, please do get in touch.

We are re-opening the gardens on the 1st April!

We are thrilled to welcome clients back on 1st April.  The spring weather is warming up nicely and the gardens are beginning to come to life.  Whilst we have continued to support our clients during this difficult period through telephone support, we can’t wait to see you all again in person.

In line with government guidelines, we now have to book clients in, in advance.  The sessions will run from 10.00 to 12.00 and 13.30 – 15.30 on Mondays and Tuesdays. If you would like to find out more about becoming a Client or a Volunteer at GHTV, we would be very happy to hear from you.

Still supporting our Clients, throughout lockdown!

GHTV is still hard at work providing support to our Clients during this lockdown period.

It has been an unprecedented year, but our staff have continued to work hard behind the scenes, supporting existing Clients and speaking to referrers and prospective Clients. Some have really benefitted from the personal, tailored approach that GHTV has given them. One Client wrote to us to say:

“I wish I could more adequately explain the huge benefit to my life from being taken on as a Client by Green Health Thames Valley. Being involved with this project and the consequent joy, fun and happiness have contributed both to enhanced mental health and boosted my ability to make a difference in other areas of my life”.

We hope to be all back at the garden soon.

Volunteers Needed! No gardening experience necessary!

Do you have a couple of hours to spare on a weekly or fortnightly basis? Do you like getting outside and gardening? Then volunteering with Green Health Thames Valley could be for you!

We are looking for volunteers to carry out routine gardening tasks at our small garden in Whitley, working alongside staff and Clients to help maintain the garden. No gardening experience needed as full training and support will be given to you. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to give a few hours as a regular commitment.

We are open Tuesday and Thursday and can offer either a morning or afternoon volunteering session on each day.

If you are interested in coming to volunteer with us then please email us anytime at Alternatively telephone us on 07450 334091 (Tuesday or Thursday only).
